Round-up of the First 2013 Races …

Lead One Race But Mechanical Issues Prevailed Over Rémy Audette

Boisbriand (Québec), May 20th 2013.– The Audette Racing Team contested this weekend’s double-header, the first two rounds of the 2013 Canadian Touring Car Championship season, held at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Ontario’s Mosport circuit). Mechanical problems tormented Rémy Audette during these two races, forcing him to abandon both, including while leading on Sunday afternoon.

Rémy Audette and the Audette Racing Team were anxious to debut their brand new Dimensions Doors / Novatech Honda Civic Si.  There was one prevailing concern, as explained the Quebec driver and past CTCC race winner at this very same track : ” we knew that we needed more testing time with the new car and that’s why we took to precaution of preparing the Dimensions Doors / Novatech Acura RSX, with which my brother and I participated in the last season. Unfortunately, our worries came to fruition during Friday’s practice session when an electrical problem caused the Honda’s engine to cut. “.  The team made the quick decision to then switch their focus to preparing the Acura for the two races.

Qualifying in third for Saturday’s race, Rémy Audette had an excellent start and was in second place when a rock perforated the radiator, causing the engine to overheat and forcing his  early abandon.  ” The Audette Racing Team worked hard to change the head gasket on Saturday night and I wanted to reward them with a good result in Sunday’s round ” explains the driver, ” I started the race in third spot and quickly climbed to second.  The leader then broke a wheel and crashed, handing me the lead, but it didn’t last long ” he adds. The Acura’s gear shifter had broken off in Rémy’s hand, forcing him to prematurely end his quest for victory once again.

For Rémy and the entire team, the weekend’s results are definitely disappointing but their hopes of battling amongst the leaders in the next race are not dampened. ” We have a lot of work ahead of us on the new car.  We plan to test as of Tuesday at Mirabel’s ICAR circuit, in order to make necessary improvements and we must redo some of the wiring components in order to resolve our engine cutting problems.  We are very motivated and we know the car has a lot of potential ” he concludes.

The Audette Racing Team benefits from the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, JSA, Robover, Sturtz, Milette Doors, Mec-Inov, Soniplastics and Omnitech.
