Formula 2000 – After Mosport 2011

F2000 Victory at Mosport…
Almost Perfect Weekend for Rémy Audette !

Mosport Park (Ontario), July 24, 2011.– Leader of the F2000 Championship Series heading into this weekend’s double-header at Ontario’s Mosport circuit, Quebec driver Rémy Audette earned himself a victory and a third place finish in the two contested races, further strengthening his lead in the series.

After having worked on the settings of his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Van Diemen during the practice session, the Audette Racing driver qualified in pole position for the first of the two races, as he summarized: ” it was generally a good race with small gaps amongst the top drivers. I was in front but during a post-accident yellow period, I lost the lead and dropped two places shortly after the restart but I had to focus on the championship. I wanted to avoid contact with any other cars and earn the most amount of points possible ” explains Rémy. American Kyle Connery won the round.

Intent on realizing his goal of winning one of the two races, Rémy arrived to the track the following morning confident for round two.  Audette qualified on the second start line, and unlike his two main rivals, went on to experience a fantastic race. ” We didn’t want to use our tires too much during qualifying, which explains why I ended up in the fourth row. Two of the three drivers that started in front of me on the grid went off on the race’s first turn and other incidents took place further down in the pack. It was pretty chaotic and brought about a long period of following the Safety Car. Once we restarted, I was second and I was able to overtake the leader, Chris Livengood, at the end of the first true lap of the race ” comments Rémy, who adds: ” afterwards, I went on full attack to maintain a small lead and I won the race by about three seconds “.

With a third place, a pole position, and a victory, Rémy Audette leaves his weekend in Ontario very positively: ” it’s really an ideal situation for us going into the last two outings of the season. Once again, the entire Audette Racing team did an amazing job. We wanted two podiums for our supporters and we accomplished our mission. Winning one of the races was the initial goal but to do it while my main rivals lost points couldn’t have ended better for me in the standings ” he concludes.

The next F2000 outing for Rémy Audette is set for the weekend of September 16 and 17, at the Lime Rock circuit in Connecticut.

North American Formula 2000 is the Audette Racing Team’s primary goal for this year, with Rémy Audette behind the wheel.  Mathieu Audette is also contesting select rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship during the summer with his Acura RSX Type-S. He started his season at the Toronto Indy Grand Prix, where he earned two podium finishes.

The Audette Racing Team benefits form the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Gulf, Blueprint Racing, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
