Mathieu Audette Returns to the Circuit Mont-Tremblant

Blainville (Québec), July 2 2012.– Winner of May’s first two rounds of the 2012 Canadian Touring Car Championship, Quebec driver Mathieu Audette will return to competition this weekend for the seventh and eighth races of the season, to be held at the Circuit du Mont-Tremblant. This marks the first time the series will be presented at this track, but not the first time for the Audette Racing Team driver.

As part of the Audette Racing Team’s alternating driver’s schedule, Mathieu Audette, winner of the two opening rounds of the season at Mosport, handed the reigns over to his younger brother Rémy for the Montréal event (as part of the F1 Grand Prix du Canada) as well as last month’s at the Circuit ICAR in Mirabel. This weekend in Mont-Tremblant, Mathieu will retake the wheel of the Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX, with the intentions of earning another great result : ” I’d love to repeat the perfect weekend that I had at Mosport last May. Pole position and victory in both races would be a great way to come back ! ” indicates Mathieu Audette, smiling.

The Audette Racing driver has reason to be confident and his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX is ready to take on the Laurentian track that Mathieu knows so well: ” being in a situation where I have more experience on a track than my adversaries isn’t something that will happen often.  The Canadian Touring Car championship is being held at the Mont-Tremblant circuit for the first time in its history, whereas I’ve been racing here for years and I know exactly how our car needs to be set-up even before we do the first practice session ” shares Mathieu Audette.

Having said that, Mathieu knows that anything can happen : ” I’m not putting any pressure on myself, and it always goes better that way. I’m just really anxious to get back into competition and to have fun on this magnificent track. We know there are competitors that will be there with very very powerful cars but I still think we have great chances ” he concludes.

The practice session will take place on Friday from 9 to 9:30am and again from 1:30 to 2pm. Qualifying will be held on Saturday from 9 to 9:30am, followed by the first race at 12:45pm. The second round will be on Sunday, also at 12:45pm.

The Audette Racing Team is contesting the entire Canadian Touring Car Championship with Mathieu and Rémy Audette as alternating drivers.  The team benefits form the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Evotech, Milette Portes, Gulf, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
