Canadian Touring Car at Mont-Tremblant…

Two Drivers, One Lap Record, and Four Podiums for the Audette Brothers !

Mont-Tremblant (Québec), July 8, 2012.– At the wheel of his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX, Quebec driver Mathieu Audette once again excelled in the Canadian Touring Car Championship, held for the first time at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant. With a lap record during racing and two second place finishes, Mathieu proudly flew the Audette Racing Team flag.  His brother, Rémy, invited by the Lombardi team to drive in the B-Spec category, also finished his two races on the podium.

Based on the alternating driving schedule predetermined by the Audette Racing Team, Mathieu Audette was back in the driver’s seat for the double-header at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant after winning the season opener at the Mosport circuit. He was quickly among the leaders but given the circumstances, he also quickly realised that fighting for the win was very unlikely : ” our Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX was perfect all weekend and the Audette Racing Team worked really well. It’s simply impossible to have enough power to battle for the lead with Camirand’s BMW ” confides Mathieu. ” I qualified second and I finished Saturday’s race in second. I gave it my all and I crossed the finish line more than ten seconds ahead of third place  ” he adds.

On Sunday, the Audette Racing Team adjusted things little bit in hopes of minimizing the gap between Mathieu and the leader, which proved to be helpful : ” I was glued to his rear bumper for almost the entire race.  The gap between us was never more than half a second and I think we gave a great show ! ” explains Mathieu Audette, who indicated that he didn’t need much more to actually win : ” twice, Marc-Antoine Camirand made little mistakes and I tried to use them to my advantage but he quickly recovered.  It was a good battle and at one point he lost a piece from his car’s body.  It surprised me, but didn’t phase me “. Mathieu eventually crossed the finish line only one tenth back !

Mathieu Audette ended his weekend with a very positive feeling : ” two podiums as well as the fastest lap time on Sunday, impossible to do better and the entire Audette Racing Team did such a fantastic job – I’m really proud of them ” he concludes.

But Mathieu wasn’t the only Audette competing in Canadian Touring Car this weekend; his brother Rémy was invited to drive one of the Lombardi Racing’s Honda Fits in the B-Spec category (sub-compact cars). This was a completely new experience for Rémy : ” with a B-Spec, the power just isn’t there. We end up being on average 20 seconds slower per lap than the Super Touring cars, but it was a great experience. I finished second on Saturday and third on Sunday, after a pretty good battle both times with my teammate Jean-François Dumoulin ” indicates Rémy Audette, who will retake the wheel of Audette Racing Team’s Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX in two weeks at the Mosport circuit.

The Audette Racing Team is contesting the entire Canadian Touring Car Championship with Mathieu and Rémy Audette as alternating drivers.  The team benefits form the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Evotech, Milette Portes, Gulf, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
